This review is from: The Gun Digest Book of Classic Combat Handguns (Gun Digest Books) (Paperback)

Of all the gun books and magazines one of the few I think has stood the test of time is Gun Digest. And this is a collection of old stories that runs from 1950 to 2004. There are articles talking about the inadequacies and lack of FBI testing on the 38 Special that is prophetic when you look at the Miami shootout that followed the article by a couple decades. There is information that may be out of date or wrong, but was accepted at the time of the article and I love it. Being able to look back with the advantage of hindsight its fun to see how right they were about some things and how wrong they were about others. Another small joy is in the wording and writing styles of the articles themselves. The way we write has changed so much over the last 60 years and its fun to see the grammar and vocabulary evolve. I was quite happy with the book and think its one of the better Gun Digest collections. I’ve also included a list of the articles and authors for those who may be interested.
