This is a stout little safe with a spring loaded door. The tactile combo lock is intuitive and works easily and in the dark.

    UNFORTUNATELY

The batteries are VERY difficult to change and they drain every three months.

My communications with Gun Vault assured me that they would last a full year if the battery code date was 8 years out. This has repeatedly proven not to be the case with my two units.

There are three reasons why I give this a one star: 1. The batteries drain every two months, which is costly to replace. 2. The thumbscrews on the inside are really small even for normal size fingers. 3. Just the placement of the battery pack is difficult to reach- big hands or small.

I think the designers/engineers need to create a circuit board or a latch mechanism that doesn’t draw as much power. This is ridiculous. Batteries are $10 a pack. Fix it.
