Great gun overall!, June 9, 2012

    Things I like:
-410 fps max velocity compared to 300-360 with other full metal blowback action guns.
-Uses a lever mechanism to puncture co2 cartridges instead of a traditional screw action.
-Co2 is loaded in the gun, NOT in the magazine (I think this contributes to the 410 fps).
-Realistic recoil action that cocks the hammer, plus the slide locks back after the last shot.
-Grips are very easy to paint (black PLASTI DIP rubberizing spray paint is PERFECT imo).
-Authentic looking 1911 style trigger which is SA-only (as it should be).
    -98% metal construction = durable (manufacturer’s specs: 1.87lbs / 843g, when empty).
-Magnet in top of clip prevents BBs from rolling out of the barrel and assists with loading.
-True Colt 1911 .45 look and feel (for most of the part).
    -Limited one-year warranty.

    Things I would change:
I wouldn’t necessarily change anything about this gun but here are a few FYIs:
-Slide locks back and/or travels about 40% that of a real 1911 (I think this helps with fps).
-The safety has a safety button on it that must be pressed to disengage it (easily “fixed”).
-The grip safety is plastic and non-functional (just wish it was metal).
-Rear sight is fixed and plastic (don’t know if plastic is beneficial and/or necessary, but would’ve liked metal and/or adjustable).
-The integral parts of the co2 lever mechanism are metal. The visible part of it is a plastic cover piece which looks like the mainspring housing on a real 1911.
-I would have liked the clip to be metal instead of plastic. Just to add, though, I have dropped my clip three times on my wood floor and it hasn’t been damaged at all. It would’ve also been nice if more than one clip was included.
-The one thing I would definitely change about this gun is the name “model 11” because Winchester released a model 11 shotgun in the past.

    In addition:
I think this gun is a pretty good buy for the money and not too bad with accuracy. It’s loads of fun and comes with a decent warranty. I’ve found that one co2 cartridge will fire five clips, or 75 shots, on average; half of what Daisy claims in the manual but not bad for this type of gun. I recommend using pellgunoil on your co2 cartridges, about every other or third one. I also recommend Daisy Precision Max (aka Premium Grade) BBs. They are the best quality for the money, hands down.

***I HIGHLY recommend the aforementioned black PLASTI DIP rubberizing spray paint for the grips on this gun! Here’s a URL to buy it from amazon (cheapest place I found; with s&h to NYS it cost me $11.41 for an 11oz can):

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LNOOEO?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref=aw_bottom_links

The grips turn out absolutely wonderful with this stuff!***

    A great BB gun for a 1911 fan!, April 17, 2012

    I shot 1911s in the service, and I have a Kimber and a Colt. I am a 1911 fan.

This is not an exact replica like some airsoft guns. It compromises a little in some very smart ways:
The finish is mat-black, and the grips don’t look like wood from any distance.
The magazine is skinny and not a replica of a 1911 magazine.
    It doesn’t field strip like a 1911.
(I believe this keeps the cost down.)
The slide only cycles back far enough to cock the hammer.
(I believe this makes it more gas-efficient and pushes the BB faster.)
The manual says that it shoots 410 fps and it gets 150 shots from one CO2 bottle.
(Those are good stats even for a non-blowback gun with a longer barrel.)

It has some odd features that are neither good nor bad.
The slide says WINCHESTER, not some other brand that ever made a 1911, or even Daisy who’s made great BB guns for over 100 years.
(I like Winchester enough, so this doesn’t bother me.)
The thumb-safety sweeps up just right, but to take it off, you have to push a safety-safety button with the other hand.
I didn’t like this, so I disabled it with some super-glue. I put a drop of glue on the safety button, then pushed it in and wiggled it a bit to get some glue down around the sides of the button. I held it down with a tiny screw driver until it dried. It gummed up, but slowly moved back out. I had to put a second drop on it to make it secure. Now, if I want to, I can follow the directions that are stamped into the slide:
    1. PUT “ON SAFE”
    2. LOAD 3. AIM
    4. TAKE “OFF SAFE”
    5. FIRE

It has a lot of strengths:
This gun has a good weight, and the shape is so good that it fits perfectly in my kydex holster.
The trigger is light and short and feels nice.
The terrible sights are the same as on my old Colt.
The CO2 bottle loads in a quick, simple and ingenious way:
One of the grip panels pops off to reveal the recess where the CO2 bottle sits, and the “mainspring housing” unfolds into a lever that you use to push the bottle up into the puncture device and holds it into place.
There is nothing you have to screw on or off.
Some 1911 replica air guns cost most of the price of a firearm. At under $90, this one is a small fraction of the cost of a 22lr “1911”.
It is accurate enough to hit a small water bottle 15/15 times from about 25 feet away. I hit a soda can 4/5 times at 48 feet away for several magazines.
The slide locks open after the last round.
    The “grip-safety” feels about right.
The recoil looks and feels cool.

This is a very fun BB gun.
It looks good and performs good.
    It was worth the money.

great BB gun, April 11, 2012

Got mine yesterday, fun to shoot, have sligh “recoil”. Solid heavy gun, full metal except plastic grips of course. Slide stos in back position when magazine is empty just like real gun. Most amazing thing about this gun is way how you install CO2 cartfidge, when most of guns have screw, this one use lever in pistol grip which works great, installing CO2 bottle was never easier and faster. Removing empty CO2 bottle is little bit more difficult, need something to pull it out like small screw driver or paper clip but it is not bad. I wish that finish is little bit better, it looks like it will wear easily, that is only reason i give this gun 4 star, if finish is better i will give it 5 star. With rapid fire i was able to do about 60-70 shots with one CO2 bottle, last few shots pistol will fire but not enough power to move slide all the way to cock it. I am looking to get few more magazines. Magaine is very easy to load, much better in comparison with Berreta elite II.
update: about 100-120 good shots in rapid fire, 6-7 magazines, rapid fire mode and pause long enough to fill your magazine, if you make more pause in between you probalby coulg fire aobut 8 maybe 9 magazines before you have to change CO2 cartridge, pistol still could fire but there is not enough pressure to move slide all the way back to cock it. also that depeds on ambient temperature
